What would be wrong with this?
Ok, I gave up on the idea for the 350 HO GMPP crate. It was simply too much money for my 17 year old *** (about $4000 after parts/install, etc.)
I still want a 350, but whatever happened to a REGULAR 350? Not HO, just the regular one. I don't want a used one, I want a new one, but I cant find them anywhere. I guess I'd have to convert to TPI, but that's not a big deal either. How much would this cost(installation included hopefully)?
Thanks all
Dave

By the way, this WOULD improve hp right? I keep wondering this because there are so many people who want to modify their 350 TPI because it's "not enough". I think once I purchased it, it would stay stock for a while. I mean, anything over my current 170 hp would be sweet. I just want something that makes my gut hurt(rollercoaster style) when I step on it, and I also want to stop losing races to trucks.
Thanks all

Yes, you'll get a horsepower improvement with just a "regular" 350. And, with your TBI to boot. You need to improve air flow, from the TBI, to the intake, through the heads, via the cam, and out the exhaust. Start with a 350 shortblock, add emissions-legal World Products S/R Torquer or Sportsman II heads (with '87-later intake bolt pattern), put that other good stuff on/in it, and you're good to go.

I swear you might be retarded..... Put on the edelbrock TBI heads (40 Horse 60 lbs/ft)
a ZZ4 cam (at least 35 HP on your car, prolly alot more with the heads), and a TBI intake manifold (prolly 25 Horse with the cam/heads) this will give you more than enough horse to almost keep up with a fourth gen....... All of this for around $1400, while you got the engine apart, id put new gastets, and replace anything that looks worn, so add $600 for that (im assumming your gonna have someone else do all of this)
and your at $2000.... and a pretty competitive car.... PS keep the TBI, i have tpi and there an electronic Pain!

So, I should but what, just a shortblock? Then buy all the parts seperately and hand them to the shop where I'm getting it done? Theres no way in hell that I could do this myself, though everyone says its not that hard. I AM retarted, and I would ferk it all up if I tried to do it, plus I don't have the tools/patience to do it myself, so I'll have a shop do it. So I get the block, then customize it, is that what you're saying?
