fresh engine swap. What would cause engine shaking?
I just put a new 350 long block in (replacing the 305 block)(TBI) everything is the original except harmonic balancer, knock sensor.
well what happens is, when the engine is running it runs like it's got a huge cam in it. Shakes hard, the dash board waves to ya (HI)
If I rev it up it shakes even more. It's like a couple of the spark plug wires are crossed. (but their not)
I don't have my fuel pressure gauge yet (on order) ... so that hasn't been changed.
Any other idea's as to why a motor would shake this hard?

Does it sound like it is missing on one or more cylinders? You wouldn't be the first to cross a couple of sparkplug wires after swearing they are right. Check again. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Left bank odd, passenger side even, l & 2 in the front.
Do you have headers? Perhaps one or more wires is shorting against a header tube.
Have you pulled the plugs? If this is being caused by a cylinder miss, most likely one or more will be wet. If you aren't shorting your spark plug wires and they aren't crossed, you may have a damaged plug (did you drop one while putting them in?).
Did you use a new distributor cap? Either way, check it for carbon tracks that may be shorting out the spark for one cylinder.
Valve setting: did you set the valves yourself? One or more might be too tight and keeping the valve open, causing a miss.
Is this a new or rebuilt engine? If all the above check out, do a compression check. You may have a low or dead cylinder.
Did you do anything funny with the flex plate? If one-piece, it should have a counterbalance weight welded to it. If it is missing the weight, you'll surely shake the engine.
Hope that helps. Let us know what you find.

thanks
I will triple check everything. I also bought better sparkplugs today at lunch and I will put them on tonight, mean while I'll check the wires.
The motor is a rebuilt from advanced auto (recon) Motor. Stock headers, intake,TBI, injectors....ect. I might get a truck TBI but not til the weekend.
- Flex plate is 305 original. (has counter wieght)
How ever the car did sit for 2-3 years while waiting for the new motor (personal reasons).Would the torque converter go bad or somthing inside got stuck?

PPPPPPPPPPPPlease tell me I'm wrong on this one. some time when the car is idling or reving up ... I hear a little small metal clicking noise. So I decided to look under the car. I haven't put on the torque converter cover yet and I watched it spin. well guess what I saw..... The fly wheel was moving back and forth (about and inch of total play) and the torque converter moving up and down (about 1/2 inch of play). does this mean what I don't want it to mean? I knew I should of bought new ones of each.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

An unbalance is a mechanical issue, not an ignition issue. If the wires were shorting or installed wrong the motor would run like crap and have a total lack of power... but not shake the car to pieces. The problem you're having is a serious mechanical issue and needs to be solved immediately. You have an unbalance somewhere in your rotating assembly. Something is either installed improperly or ready to fall apart. Either way you need to start pulling things apart one piece at a time until you find the problem. Otherwise, you'll lose your motor.

What have you done to upgrade the "fuel system" for the bigger motor? New injectors? New eprom? Does the ecm know your motor is bigger now?
If the answer is "nothing", then you are running too lean with those 305 injectors with 305 eprom. I am not a "TBI" expert, but I think you need to address this. Try the TBI Board and there are a few "TBI Guys" on the DIY PROM Board that may be able to offer some guidance.

yes I have tried a new ecm and I am tuning it ... the basics are there but with the motor like this I don't want to drive it down the road. The motor is still new and needs to go through the break in period. As stated in the preivios posts, nothing has changed with the fuel system yet. hopefully the fuel pressure guage will be here tomarrow, so I can take care of that situation.
p.s. the fly wheel bolts are in place and locktited in.The fly wheel looks warped. Maybe I Put something on it for the past 2 years and bent it?

Absolutely, positively do not run this thing until you find out the problem! A flex plate moving back & forth and a torque convertor moving up and down is not a good situation. You either have a flex plate problem (perhaps even broken) or a TC problem (perhaps not in the front pump correctly). Whatever it is, fix it before you start it again.
yo baby yo baby yo baby. I have found the problem and fixed it.... Didn't cost me a dime.
Check this out. When I was bolting up the TC to the flex plate, there was a gap. I thought the bolt would draw the TC in, level. When I noticed the TC and Flex plate not rotating correctley, well I decided to start there.
When I took of the first bolt today (fly wheel to TC) The flex plate moved about an inch away from the TC. Well to make a long story short .... some how the TC was hung up on somethin and never moved all the way forward toward the flex plate.
I pushed her up snug to the F.P. bolted her up and now she purrs like a kitten.
The flex plate was wobbly, But the TC was fine. The up and down motion I saw was a weight welded on to it. It was sinning so fast I couldn't tell the difference.
So now I love my car again and I'm celebrating with lots of BEER.
Thanks for all the encouragement, I can get fed up too easy sometimes.
Thanks Rick
