6.6 liter tpi

How much power could a lighly modified 400 tpi get.I'm thinking a little over 300hp and a little under 400 ftlb of torque.

Yeah 300hp at 3000rpm, and 400ftlb at 800rpm.

At 300 Hp you'll be making more like 500 ft-lb of torque. A TPI strapped on a 400 is like using a 2-barrel carb on a built 454.

From what i understand the 400 chevy by nature isnt a rev king.Tpi intake systems are designed for under 5000 rpm so whats the problem?

What they are saying is that the stock TPI, or even a modded TPI will not flow enough to feed a 400ci engine. I have already been through this junk, and have decided to go with the Accell SuperRam system. It makes power way beyond the range of the stock TPI. Why would you want 400ci and only make 300hp with it? If that is all you are looking for, swap in a 350 and do some work to your TPI, with a cam and heads, you should be around 300hp. If you want to build a 400, you are going to have to spend more money to get all the power out of it that is possible. There are many guys out there with SuperRammed 406's making in excess of 400hp at the rear wheels, and I am soon to be one of them

Thats the thing,I dont wan't to extract all the power from the 400.The goal is low 13s or a little better, fair gas milage and a smooth idle.A 350 w/ hi flow intake and cam will have to work harder to achive the same power.Put the same cam and intake on a 400 and it will make more power. That's sidestepping the issue though. The true reason for the 400 is the heritage of 6.6 liter and then blend it with multi port injection.Besides I have this project finished as of monday. It feels very quick but have'nt took it to gateway yet.
