Re: SAD SAD day ... need advice

ok. 350's never came in TBI format in 3rd gens, so its probably from another car or aftermarket, (which I'm guessing since the block is blue, another thing that never occurred from the factory). Probably what they did is get a 350 block and keep the tbi stuff from the original 305. What is the engine doing now? Does it turn on only when jump started? or does it not run at all or crank?

Re: SAD SAD day ... need advice

Yes, thats TBI (Throttle body injection). Really hope that isn't a 305 hiding in there. Anyways, is it knocking under load or just while idling? If it's knocking while idling, it may be time to dismantle it and rebuild.

Re: SAD SAD day ... need advice

sounds like its time to take it apart and rebuild it...
try not to run it since is could be a spun bearing you can still save the crank.. i would pull it apart and see what its insides look like and make sure its a 350 before you rebuild.

Re: SAD SAD day ... need advice

I thought I had a knocking coming form my car once. Knocked on idle, sped up as I gave it gas and everything. I thought I was screwed, took the car off the road and everything.

Turned out to be the plastic torque converter cover that had come loose and was hitting the torque converter and flexplate lol

Re: SAD SAD day ... need advice

A carb setup or a good bit of tuning. That will not play nicely with TBI

the motor 383 stroker around 500hp nothing on this motor is stock olny the crank
Id suggest a different motor. How you build a 383 with a stock 350 crank is beyond me
