Matt,
chevy High Performance did a build up with Vortec heads. It was like a 4 part project. I know these heads flow real well at .500", so look for a cam with that much lift. Duration is another matter. I chose a roller cam from Comp Cams. It depends a lot on the car, compression ratio, gearing, and so forth. If you know what all these variables are, then it would be easier to advise on a cam to use.

Those heads don't reliably support lift above about .480" without doing machine work. The problem is that the retainers hit the top of the valve guides.

Alot of people (including the magazine articles) use the Comp XE268H with them and get HP numbers in the 400 range, with a 750 CFM Holley or Demon carb, a Perforer RPM, and headers. That sounds pretty good to me for a no-bucks buildup. Expect about 20-25 less HP with the Q-Jet but better mileage and maybe better driveability.

my cam works well, do yourself a favor and dump that cc-qj. A demon 625 or 750 (I have one) would work quite nicely

I'm no wiz kid but isn't the q-jet a spread bore and isn't the RPM intake a square bore? You might want to go with a square bore carb if that's the case.
