350 tpi to 400 carb
350 tpi to 400 carb
I have an 89 Formula with a 350 tpi and want to know if a Pontiac 400 bored 30 over from an old Lemans would fit in. The engine has been sitting in my garage for years now and needs to have some fresh power producing parts in it if you know what I mean muhahahah POWER! The old parts wont just cut it even though they are high quality parts from when my brother first bored it and hopped it up. Will I need to modify a lot from what I know isnt a 400 the same size as the stock 350 just bored out bigger though right? Also what type of other mods will I need electrical, rearend, trans, suspension, are these going to need special attention along with other components? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANKS.

The Pontiac 350 and 400 were like each other, but completely different than the SBC's put in our 3rd gens. It can and has been done, but you'll probably be disappointed with the results after a lot of hard fabrication work (and you'll need a different tranny) to put in a heavier and most likely less powerful engine.
You'd be a lot better off making a 383 out of your current 350.
