Got my Tri-Ys for the big block

The headers for my big block just came this morning from Lemons Headers. All I can say is WHAT A WORK OF ART! Every weld on the inner tubes ground smooth, no pinholes, and without putting them on the car it seems they will fit great. The 2-1/8 primaries are are quite a bit larger then the Hooker headers and the collectors terminate by the oil pan and point straight back. Bolting up a Mufflex 4" systems shouldn't be a problem at all. Just get some straight intermediate pipe to make up the distance.

I'll try to put the headers in this weekend and give you an update of the actual fitment.

Yeah! It's about time. You must have been looking for headers forever. Is everything streetable after the exhaust is done?

Sweet...hopefully it all works out.
I've sadly turned to a mustang as my projects lately....
Camaro is getting underway again though.

Is the Mustang a 5.0? If so keep it. Parts are cheap (except engine) and they can get fast with little work. They're also have tougher drivetrain components then Camaros. Not to mention most 5.0's had forged pistons. One turbo kit and you're flying.

Well, I always tried to prep you guys that they were expensive so hopefully you won't fall off your chair when I say $780 on my door step with no ceramic coating.

But considering the size of them, they're not considered street headers and all good race headers are expensive. When you look at it that way, the price is reasonable.

Not for me though when you calculate the Canadian exchange rate plus shipping.

OKAY.... NOW I'M ANNOYED! The headers won't even bolt up to the engine because they don't clear the motor mounts on either side of the engine!!!

Lemons WILL be receiving a call from me bright and early tomorrow morning!

With 2 1/8 primaries, they probably figured you were using motor plates.

I still think 2 1/8 is way too big for a mostly street car with or without a blower. My buddies Super Street Cuda (1400+ hp) has 2 1/8 primaries, but then again, that sees 8,000+ rpms

Not trying to knock you or anything, but I wouldn't do it.

(Best 1/4) 12.18 @ 113mph 1.75 60ft
(Best 1/8) 7.76 @ 94mph 1.72 60ft

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 posi carriers for sale for 9 bolts )

Remember, it's not a 4 into 1 header. The primary size doesn't relate the same.

Wow... it's get even better. It seems the driver side collector goes right into the clutch bracket on the bellhousing.

Now that I've had some time to cool down I took an objective look at it and it appears that a TH400 would fit just fine. Also, the motor mount problem can be easily solve by trimming the mount or using a solid mount. The more and more I do to the car it just begs for an auto anyway. The 5-speed is really a mismatch any way you look at it. But I'm concerned that with an auto I'll gear out before I even get to the end of the quarter. Although, I'm considering just getting a TH400 and calling it good. It really would be a quicker car.

Just as I suspected... I fit up a TH400 and it fit fine. They got the right headers but wrong application. Now I've got to sit back and think. Do I let them work the issue and wait who knows how much longer or do I just install a TH400 and move forward? I've already got $3500 wrapped up in my Tremek TKO but I really don't want to mess with this exhaust issue any longer. I'm truly sick of it.

You paid $780 for a set of headers that fit your application. My vote is they exchange for the right ones.

You built your bird the way you wanted it and if you compromise because the header shop can't get the order right I doubt you'll be happy.

Get this... the PA Racing k-member doesn't fit either. It hits the steering linkages. You know, I had a '68 El Camino at one time and all I can say is every last thing went right with that car. Anybody know where it is??? The big block would fit very nicely.

Ok off topic again but..my mustang is an '88 LX 5.0
its got forged pistons...215k miles though..
runs like a champ...
stock the guy that bought it new ran a best of 14.6 @95mph.
I took it up 200k miles later and it ran..14.7@94.5mph 1st pass.
2.2 60' times...2:73 rear end gears...

So lately I installed BBK longtube headers, H-pipe, flowmaster cat back, pro 5.0 shifter, rebuilt the T5 (2nd gear syncro was shot), king cobra clutch, 4:10 gears in process..., and underdrive pullies in the back seat of it...
should be a high-mid 13's w/ street tires.

I got a refund from Lemons for half the purchase price in exchange for keeping the headers. I will use a TH400 instead of my stick shift. Like I said before, the headers are a work of art. Just the wrong application. It's easier for both me and Lemons if I just change my application.
