Block and Head ?

I just got a 350 block out if a 78 camaro and I was wandering if a set of 87 and later heads would work with it?Thanks for any replies.

they will fit but you have to get a specal intake manifold, edelbrock sells them.

Yeah, they will work just fine, and you can use most any intake. The center bolt holes are different from 86 and below, but all it takes is a little drilling to make them fit. And you won't have to pay the big dollars for a late model intake.

the intake bolt holes are COMPLETELY diffrent on the 87 and up heads, you have to get the special intake from edelbrock,

Youre mistaken, its a minor difference in the 4 center intake bolts, the "old" style is 90 degrees, the "new" is 72 degrees. Minor machining/drilling required.

all you need to do is wallow-out the center holes some, and use a washer. an early intake will fit the late-model heads. I don't typically do that, but I have, and it worked just fine. In fact I've gone backwards and put a late-model intake on earlier heads. I was putting the 350 into my 87, and this guy broke a chunk off his Edelbrock, and NEEDED(read had to be across Texas the next day) a Q-jet intake. We pulled the intake off my dead LG4, took a die grinder to the center holes, and bolted that POS onto his 68 Chevelle, worked like a charm, and I got $75 for an intake that I wouldn't take for free!(gesture of gratitude I suppose, I didn't ask for any money.)
