this isn't a plug by any means, as i don't have an american speed engine, but this is based on what i have read.
american speed advertises in most magazines like hot rod, etc. they have been featured in a few mags such as classic trucks.
their 383 torquer 450 engine makes 450 horse with i think 9.2 compression? these guys do know their stuff, based upon what i have read. but the 383 longblock goes for around $4600 last time i checked, a little over i year ago, iirc.
but for the price you pay, they even spec a type of spark plug based on what you want to do with the engine. they blueprint the power steering pump to work with a high performance engine such as the torquer 383.
if i had 5-6k to throw around for an engine, i would probably give american speed a shot.

1984 Camaro SC. getting a Trans Am front suspension, and a 350 that will proabbly scatter the v6 t-5 currently in the car!

I've herd good things too.
May I suggest a longer rod 383 engine min. 6"
to keep those pistons square in those bores (especially a motor thats going to run interstate speeds daily)and many other reason too....
