i have the cash to buy a 2010 camaro v6 engine and all that fun stuff but what exactly do u need, wouldn't u need a transmission that goes with that engine and all the electronics that go with that engine? yeah i dont know squat about engine swaps

Yep. You'll need all that to go along with the engine.

You'd be ahead just to pick up a totaled 2010 Camaro from the junkyard, then pull the engine, tranny & PCM. That way you'd get all the wiring that you'd need.

Re: 2010 camaro engine in a '91
considering it hasn't been done i'm sure you'll run into lots of other problems...

the 3.6 is direct injected so you'll need the correct fuel pump, probably all new fuel lines, the entire harness, computer, etc... You may also have to modify your stock K member for clearance and make motor mounts.

I'm not sure what "just to just up" means but i am guessing you meant up and buy the whole wrecked car.

If so i couldn't agree more. Having done some swaps i can tell you three things. Its never cheap, its never easy and there will always be some part(s) you need that you didn't think you would. Having the whole donor car is the way to go.

A 3.8 regal/GN turbo swap would be interesting, powerful and probably a lot easier.

I meant "You'd be ahead just to PICK up a totaled......"

Yes. Grab a complete car, take what you need, then resell the rest.

If you pick up a 5th gen for the swap do the dash swap too. You can be the first to do it all and have something to talk about with friends once you get it up and running. Get one that is t-boned or better yet rear ended, then you can have the complete dash and seats

Yes & no.

That would essentially be the same as a TTA, but AFAIK, the heads on the Buick V6 had to be changed out, because they wouldn't fit between our strut towers. And a different turbo was used. Dunno why, but maybe the Buick one wouldn't fit? The one Pontiac used was better, to go with the heads they used?

Re: 2010 camaro engine in a '91
Don't forget things like instrument cluster would have to have a custom setup as the ECM wouldn't work with your current setup. The gas pedal will have to be changed as all the new cars are drive by wire and have no mechanical linkage.
You'll also need the transmission from the 2010 donor, and perhaps a custom drive shaft.

If you have the money go for it. BUT IMHO it's not worth the cost of materials time and trial and error to do it all. A LS1, LS6 swap is going to be easier to do and all the info on doing it is out there.

you can do whatever you want, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Somebody's gotta be first to do it. If you've got the resources and the "want to" then go for it.
