i know that i can oval out the center 2 bolt holes to make my 86 manifold work with 87 iron heads, but is it possible to do this for vortec heads, and after i do oval out the holes can i use it on a 86 manifold again later without sealing problems??

 

What I've seen the intake won't sit on the heads right without some spacers and even then the ports won't match up right with the Vortecs.

exactly! They will not work correctly. You can rig them up to bolt on, but the runners do not match up. The vortecs have a raised runner design. Just buy a new intake and do it right.

 

yeah i just didnt want to spend 175 for a temporary engine thanks, what about the 87-95 cast iron heads??

thank you but im staying with the carb this year to keep costs down looking for a vortec manifold for spreadbore, prefer w/ egr provision but for the right price ill delete it
