heres my brothers 84 z28. doing a new cam, double roller timing chain, new lifters, just picked up the royal purple break in oil so were gonna start puttin it back together and hopefully have her running tonight. also got a 2800 stall converter courtesy of JEGS.

got the engine cleaned up, doing the heads next, then begin re assembly. should have the car driving again tonight....

 

well everything was going good til we nopticed a piece of the number 4 piston had a chunk missing by the top ring landing. so no more buildup for tonight, gonna grab a piston from home tomorrow and finish her up....

ok ladies and gentlemen, we ran into some piston problems, as of now the engine is IN the car, cylinder heads on so headers, intake, distributor are next as well as valve covers and if all goes well the car will be running and firing and breaking the new cam in tonight. got royal; purple break in oil so all should go well. cant wait to drive and ride in the 84 z28 with the 3000 stall converter!!!

 

Is that torque convertor from a Diesel truck in the 2nd pic?

 

no its the one that WAS in the car. So everything is put back together, cars running and driving. the converter stalls out at around 2200 and the car moves pretty good. and believe it or not its still got the 305 heads as the 350 ones had some junk valves in them... so another motor rebuild gone well.

 

Just wondering because the only one's Ive seen with 6 mounting points for the flexplate was in a Diesel.

 

yeah it was the one that was in the TH350 when he got it
