BBC

Has anybody discovered any manifolds that will fit with a BBC in the third gen? My buddy insists he was able to get a set to clear the frame rails without modification... he no longer has the car but I heard many stories and saw pictures of it and they were defiantly manifolds.

I currently have the motor back outta the car to change cam (yet again) and do valve seals on the new heads. I refuse to spend $800 on headers and if I can't find manifolds that work I will be putting the motor into a Z71 to spank the local imports.

Re: BBC

i don't think you'll be able to get anything to be drop in and go, but here's a start:

Re: BBC

Why are you changing the cam again? Did you wipe out a lobe?

Re: BBC

Thanks those manifolds at least clean the frame rails.

And as far as the cam goes, I had the heads ported some I'm running a slightly more aggressive cam.

Re: BBC

From what I remember, the 'car' manifolds (Chevelle, camaro, etc) will physically clear the frame rails, but the exits are too close to the firewall to bolt an exhaust pipe to them, so they won't work either.

BBC is a pay-to-play swap... I did one myself.

Re: BBC

Would it be possible to beat the firewall back to make it bolt up? It doesn't really matter anymore I sold the motor and car but I'm still curious.

Re: BBC

Na, because the mounting flanges angle back, they dont point down. You'd have to bash it in about 3-4" to make it work.

Re: BBC

Has anyone tried the late-model (IIRC- 3800?? 8.0 Ltr??) truck manifolds??
In pics, it **looks** like a straight down flange out of #7 & 8.

There aren't any in the jy here.

Expensive for **new** ones going as much as 400+ EACH!!

I don't recall the site off hand, I believe Dorman made them.

Re: BBC

I think the new 8.0 has a different design in the head. I doubt it would bolt up.

EDIT - wrong button. Post is untouched.

You sure? I know the intake side is different, but I don't think the exhaust side is different....
