355 in a 92, need info please
Hey guys, I have found an amazing deal on a 355 motor. My question is what is needed to run it in my 92 rs camaro? Will it bolt to my wc t5? Etc. It is a 4 brl Holley carb, so I would be going from (tbi) toilet bowl injection, lol, to carb, please I could use the info, motor is rated at 340- 350hp, thanks.

There is a tech article linked from the thirdgen.org homepage about converting from EFI to carb.
The T5 will bolt to a 350. Only question is what type of rear main seal your 350 has, which will determine which flywheel you need.

That's a good question, idk much right now about the motor, it is in an early ninties s-10 and it is bolted to a 700r4 tranny, I believe.

Re: 355 in a 92, need info please
I read up on the efi to carb article, seeing as how I'm pulling the entire complete 355ci out of the s-10 and pulling my motor, the only part I really need to follow would be the fueling system, right? Bc of it being a carbed motor it already has the distributor and intake and carb, well I would also have to follow the throttle cable info and all too, but that should be simple. My question on the fuel pump would be, could I just use my tbi fuel pump and get a regulator, or do I definitely need to get an older pump, a carb pickup or whatever?

Since S10's never came from the factory with a V8, the engine could be most anything. If you can get the casting # off of the block, that would provide a good deal of the information needed.
You can use the in-tank electric pump with a return-type regulator. The story on a factory TBI pump is it can support about 300 HP on its own. If you use it as a pusher pump to an engine-mounted mechanical (with a return-type reg after the mechanical), it should be able to support more.

Ok, one more thing, I read something bout the key, ignition key, that it has to use the ECM, is that true? Or can I junk it? My key is the key with the little microchip in it, I'm also using factory guages, so what will I have to keep to make those things work?

All you have to do is bypass the starter enable relay that was operated by the VATS

What's the consensus on return-style'd in-tank pumps? Living on borrowed time, or will they last?

If you don't know when your pump was replaced, you're probably on borrowed time.
