Locating a Distributor washer

The distributor takes a washer in between it and the intake correct? The distributor on the '89 305 I've been working on spins when the bolt is tightened. Im thinking i need this washer. Where can I find one, locally?

Well, not so much a washer as a gasket. I seem to have oodles of them. Any of your local parts stores should carry the distributor gasket.

Yeah but I'm thinking the bolt is to long and bottoming out... is the gasket really thick enough to cause the distributor to spin when the bolt is tightened?

It's just a paper gasket.

Then I would think he got the wrong bolt in there and it is bottoming out before it tightens the distributor.

3/8-16 thread... I like using a stud in the hole and a nut to tighten it up, myself.

Stud with a nut on my engine also. Make sure the hold down clamp is sitting properly on the distributor.
