305 tpi to 350 carb tranny kick down cable.
hey guys i have a silly question....
I went to A 350 carb from a 305 tpi...i took out the ecu and harness, but the tranny kick down was hooked up in the front of the engine before, now the carb is alot closer to fire wall.
My question is does anyone know what tranny kick down to use, i hooked mine up as is, but i have to pump the gas to get it to kick down because its way to long....
so do i just take this one out put a shorter one in? i have NO idea how to adjust one...please let me know what one to purchase.
Thanks
-Matt

You must have the correct leverage in relation to the % throttle opening ( as the stock TB did ) otherwise you will burn up the trans
Need a TV corrector cable to suit your carb to get the leverage right
http://www.summitracing.com/search/T...d=tv+corrector
and most likely a custom or homemade bracket for the TV cable outer
There are aftermarket brackets for carbs that have both accel and TV cable mounts

I've always read of everyone swapping out for a TBI or carbed cable rather than the TPI cable because of it's length and it being hard to deal with. If it were me, I'd swap for a TBI cable - my car was TBI and my stock cable worked great.

Get one from an autozone for either a carb'd third gen or TBI one.

Not likely to find it at Zoned Auto, although they may be able to order it from the dealer.
As stated, carb'd or TBI will work. I have a used carb'd one I'm not going to need if you're interested.

By the way, it's a "throttle valve" cable, not "kick down" or "detent".

Re: 305 tpi to 350 carb tranny kick down cable.
1) TV cable for a TBI or carb car
2) bracket your choice, something sturdy
3) Your not trying to go into/out of overdrive, your trying to get torque converter to lock and unlock. ECM controls this - going to carb means no ECM function, thus no torque converter lockup. There's a tech article at top of carb forum about TCC lockup
You also need a geometry corrector for the carb linkage - summit $21
