305 to 350 issues

Alright so did the swap and everything so far is good. Has the tbi still too... I have switched everything that I have heard about so far for it to work properly..however the car does run and runs good till it warms up...the idle will start jumping from 500 to 1500. And upon acceleration it is little rough. It has brand new tps, fuel injectors, iac, map, fuel filter, egr, and have the ecm for a 350. But still same problem. Any ideas???

Um as far as tuning goes. I set all the timing and everything the way the book shows and set all the new sensors according to the book as well. The last thing I'm going to look into is the fuel pump and see how much psi its putting out still...i think its the original. The ecm and all is stock.

Oh...the motor itself is bored.030 , had a mild electronic cam, the heads looked ported and polished when I got them and as far as I know the valves are same size, and its got a high pressure oil pump....other then that no mods.

Re: 305 to 350 issues

make sure you didnt get the stock sized injectors for the 305 it will lean out really bad. also your motor combination can play a big factor to in your injection system. just throwing this out there the previour owner didnt put bigger injectors in and she always had a hesitation when you went to take off and idle was terrible it was never consistant. thats just my problems i had also all my top rings were broke on my motor from leaning it out so you might want to figure it out asap

Re: 305 to 350 issues

Yeah I just had it running and it did good then the idle died down and it sounded like the computer kicked it cause it the a code 45 for rich exhaust...the tbi on it now is for a stock 350 not really sure what size injectors that would out them at pounds wise. Any advice on what size I should go with?

Re: 305 to 350 issues

i dont know very much about the TPI motors. I just bought an 85' camaro thats 305 was swapped out for a 350. whoever swapped it out, made sure to not plug any of the electrical connectors back in. this is causing some of my gauges to not work and also setting off my check engine light. are all the connectors compatible between the 305 and 350?? the car seems to run great most of the time but after the check engine light goes on it runs really odd. im replacing the o2 sensor in it this weekend

Re: 305 to 350 issues

well the same thing was done on your car that was on mine dont waste the money on the o2 sensor its not what it is. they prolly just bolted the 305 setup on a 350 block correct? if so the injectors are to small to small and leaning the motor out VERY bad causing EXTREME detonation. wouldnt drive it mmuch longer like that cuz all my top rings were shattered cuz of the detonation from the smalll injectors. also the esc needs to be changed to the 350 esc i think thats what its called. also prolly still the stock computer also wrong you WILL need the prom out of the 85 vette as they used the same computer just a different tune fo rthe 350. also im guessing she has a very inconcistant idle too? also let me no what gauges dont work and ill help you out and answer them
