Ls engine or twin turbo? looking fo advice

Hello, thanks for looking. I'm throwing around the Idea for a LS engine & tranny swap or twin turbo add on kit. Any advice or concerns? My 350 is pretty strong But has been hacked by previous owner. He took off all emissions systems & wiring harness is Frankensteined together. I want to know if any body can guide me in the right direction. Thanks.

Whats done to the 350? that will determine if the LS swap would be worth it or not, and if the turbo idea is feasible on the 350.

How well can you fab? If you cant, go LS swap.

Re: Ls engine or twin turbo? looking fo advice

its all going to come down to skills and money. LSx swap will require the least amount of custom fabbing but quite a bit of time is needed with the wiring work. turbo will require going into the block and probably redoing all the lower end to be able to take boost without breaking.

what's your budget, what's your end goal, and what do you have for skills? that will clear things up real quick

Well since they ditched Pontiac & no 5th gen trans am I'm willing to spend 15k to get car to what I want......10k on drive train & 5k on paint & body work etc. Ideally I would like to put between 400-500hp to the back wheels. Pontiac 350 as far as I can tell was rebuilt/replaced(not clear in paper work) about 5 years ago. Digital dash so I have no Idea millage on the car. Just want to know the best place to put the money. Still checking links sent to me. Thanks.

$15K??? If you have 10K to spend on drivetrain, id go LSX and buy an LQ9 engine w/Fast intake, LT's, cam swap etc and with that kind of budget, you could go with a built Auto OR T56/MN12 or w/e you want and still have $ left for a nice rear end like a 12 bolt or 9 inch. $10K into an LSx drivetrain is going to build one nasty car, might want to invest some of the budget into chassis strengthening parts as well. Let me know if that route interests you, i can get remanned Lq9's w/3/100 warr. for $2800.

400-500whp is cam only 6.0 all day long. Heads milder cam can get mid 450's whp and be very very driveable on the street. 500whp is a nasty 6.0 combination but can be done.

Yeah with that budget i'd go LS motor. Dont even need the Fast intakes for that, as those are pricey. LS6 intake can support 450whp. Or go LS3 heads/intake on a 6.0 based build.

So will a TT 2.8 V6, for a few passes atleast

No point in building up old tech to the very limit when disposably cheap LSx engines are available, kick butt out of the box and take punishment like no other

Go LSx and never look back

Heck, a common iron 6.0 with a LS3 top end makes KILLER and repeatable power on a budget. Boost it and they're even nastier! No reason to ever consider SBCs if you have a choice from the beginning
