L98 and 350sb Same????
Okay my question is I was set to buy a forged L98 because I have a setup ready for it meaning rhs heads fully done by Lloyd and I have a hsr setup as well. My question is what's the difference between a L98 shortblock and a standard 350 sb. I'm looking for something that I can use all my parts already bought. Its been so hard to find a L98 forged out by shop my question is if all shortblock 350 is same as the l98 or what same and different thanks for help ..

Yes they are the same. The #638, 148 etc castings are the same used in 87-95 chevy TBI Trucks.

L98 forged
The L98 is a typical 350 short block with TPI on top. Flat-top pistons. Crappy typical stock cam. Relatively decent heads; nothing "great", but not bad (like for example 70s smoggers or TBI heads). Other than that, nothing about it is "special".
