NEED HELP

Switched out TPI to Carb. Now The 700r4 will not shift. Got reverse and first but will not shift up. when you take off it gets up to speed then the trans feels like it starts to slip and begins to chatter when it should shift.what do i need to do to fix this?

Re: NEED HELP

Did you change to a TBI or carbed car TV cable?

TV cable adjusted properly?

Install a TV cable geometry corrector?

Re: NEED HELP

Yes, need either a TBI or carbed car cable as I understand it - the TPI cable was quite a bit longer and thus wouldn't connect well or correctly. The TV cable is not electronic, it's purely mechanical - but it is very critical to the tranny operation to have it correct.

Re: NEED HELP

Crossmember with torque arm mount, and driveshaft depending on the length of the TH350's tail section. Plus, you'll lose gas mileage (no 4th gear), you'll need to rig up a vacuum line for it, and I'd be wary of any $75 tranny - it costs 3 times that in parts to rebuild one, so there is no such thing as a $75 "freshly built" tranny.

Unless it's dual pattern, it won't fit a Chevy engine.

BTW, the TV cable isn't "electronic stuff". It's purely mechanical.

The torque converter clutch lockup, though, is electrical, and unless you made provision for it after removing the computer equipment, it's another way to burn up the transmission.
