Re: 305 to 350

Wouldn't you just be able to swap the engine right in? Maybe get larger injectors to run the 350 vs a 305 if you plan on running TBI? The computer might not run the 350 completely right, but it should run it, its not that big of a change I don't think if you plan on keeping the TBI. Considered doing this if I ever replace the 4.3L in my S10 to a 305 or 350...

Re: 305 to 350

1) - there's a hundred threads on this, and the search function works great

The basics ...

350 injectors, chip from a 350 car (caprice), 350 knock sensor, (assuming you are keeping TBI setup), and ....

2 months to make it all happen - everyone wants to swap motors on a daily driver, then they all complain because they didn't finish in a weekend. You can't do it in a weekend, or even a week - you need time.

Re: 305 to 350

Not the stock auto. A lot of people run the 700R4 behind 350s

Re: 305 to 350

However, it is quite possible that the new added torque/power of the 350 motor will make the old tranny slip almost immediately. This happened to me - my tranny worked perfectly (as best as I could tell) behind the stock 305 - but the instant the 350 went in, it slipped, and I had to get a rebuild.

"Rebuild" is not the same as "upgrade". "Slip" is not the same as "break".
