My first engine swap. 305 H.O. to 350
Well I'm almost done with my first engine swap and I figured I'd post what i have going on.
First off my engine is an 010 cast 4 bolt main 350, it's been completely cleaned up.
It has rebuilt 041 cast heads with heavy duty valve springs, and screw in studs.
30 over 10:1 TRW flat top pistons
Crane 113822 powermax cam 288/296 duration .458/.473 lift
Cloyes gear double roller timing set
Edelbrock 1406 performer 600 cfm. carb.
Summit shorty headers
Weiand 7546 X-CELerator intake, port matched to the heads
everything else is new except the crank which is stock, and the power steering pump.
as of now i just need to figure my exhaust out, and figure out a different hood/ put a scoop on mine.
Here's some pictures.

well it's finally all together, and it has started. now we just need to do some fine tuning, and attach the new y pipe, and it will be going.

You'll probably make between 230 and 270hp with those heads and that cam. It's not a bad combo, but modern heads would help a lot. The cam is on the large side, looks like it has relatively slow ramp rates so it will probably not make much vacuum, which means you may have brake problems, but it will be borderline. But it does mean it's going to sound VERY good.
Remember, the bottom end determines displacement, but power is made in the top end. Heads, cam, intake, and carb determine power. Your heads are old school double hump style heads, the intake is probably good, and the carb is likely on the small side. With a cam that large, you would be better off running a 650cfm carb, maybe a 750, if those heads can flow at high RPMs. Im not a fan of edelbrock, but those carbs will work fine.

Sorry for the time without updates, but i've had a lot going on in the last few weeks. But recently i had to take the trans back out and replace the throwout bearing. And now i'm working on the fine tuning, but i have her running, and i'll hopefully have time to post a video a little later.

Good job man! I'm actually building the same set up. 355 and a T5. I'm just in the beginning stages with mine as I want new heads and pistons before I install it. I live in tacoma though so good to see somebody else from Washington doing something cool.

Thanks man. Yeah it's always nice to see other third gens around here. And harcourt the starter and flywheel fron the h.o. worked but headers get the starter too hot. I had to get a mini torque starter.
