What are my engine Specs!?!
My engine went out on me so i had to replace it, my mechanic happened to have a engine he was saving for himself that he said i could have. Has less than 30,000 miles and runs good so hey, whatever it takes ATM.
The block number is 10243880 casting I.D. is 171 its for years 95-2000 but cant find any specs. Also is there anyway to tell wether its a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt main without taking off the pan?

That's a Vortec block. Could be 2 or 4 bolt mains. That's a roller motor so you'll need a flex plate/flywheel for a 1 pc rms.

Forgot to mention a Vortec specific intake if you're using the same top end.

IDK exactly what you mean as im still learning, however i believe i have the right answerr to what your asking.
I am changing the intake manifold to carbureted, i dont know what the exact specs are of the manifold, all i know is my mechanic purchased it for him (said he paid $150, its still new in the box), but were putting my carburetor back on which is a Edelbrock 4BBL

Re: What are my engine Specs!?!
Your current intake manifold will not fit due to the difference in the intake face bolt pattern/port placement of a pre 87 head compared to a Vortec head. This only applies if the engine still has the Vortec heads or if, (why you would, IDK), you're going to use your current heads. Same applies to the flex plate/flywheel. Pre 86 engines are a 2 pc rms whereas 87 and newer are 1 pc. You'll need a specific flex plate/flywheel for the 1 pc rms. Your current one WILL NOT work.

Like is said though, i really dont know exactly, hes doing the stuff im just asking the questions lol.
His work is always good, and always done right, so whatever hes doing will be right. Im just interested in how much horse power it may have. ive been on google alot lately searching, but cant really find a HP spec.
Also heard on google it may or may not be a zz4 and theres a casting number on the front that would tell me.

What makes a ZZX a ZZX is basically it's forged crank. That engine block was used by GM for a wide range of engines.
A horsepower figure is going to be difficult to determine w/o knowing more details of the engine, (ie intake set up, cam, heads, headers/exhaust system). As a base line, a stock, spider injected 5.7 Vortec was was about 250 HP/350 TQ.

a free vortec engine is nice to have. if he already has a vortec specific carbed intake its even better. all you need is a new flywheel or flexplate for a 1 peice rear main seal engine, drop it in and youre good to go.

Re: What are my engine Specs!?!
880 just tells you what block it is.
"Vortec" is not a property of the block; it's the heads. Blocks and heads interchange freely. Just getting a block casting doesn't tell you what "the motor" is, beyond its bore size. That block could have Vortec heads on it, could have TBI "swirlies", could have 70s smoggers, could have ZZ4 aluminum ones, could even have aftermarket. No way to know until you look.
Not hard to tell some things about it from the outside though.
Does it have an intake manifold on it now?
