In your wiring diagrams do the sensors for your gauges go through the ecu or are they sensor straight to the gauge pod?

Re: how to swap engines from v6 to v8

Well the fuel pump goes through the ecm and speed scencor too as for the rest i dont know thats why im confused im going to run a hei dist and internal reg alt i know the tac will be about 10% off and i can buy a conversion for speedo cable to electric but it runs through the ecm? But if i run all aftermarket guages im just wondering if all my lights and radio and heater and dash will work and what is this passanger side harness i can remove and do i hard wire the fuel pump direct to the ignition or through the relay i have a 91 rs 3.1 v6 mpi

I would probably save as much harness as you can to avoid headaches later. I know my 84 the temp, and oil are just sensor to gauge. I think for electric speedo there is just a sender then a buffer and finally the gauges. What is your final V8 plan, TPI, TBI, carb?

as far as I know, the guages have their own sensors. they are seperate from the computer. in the LT1/LS1 swap area, there are a few wiring diagrams for the 85/86. it is in the common LT1 swap questions.
