http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/pts/3076847022.html

i was wondering if i bought this, would it fit without modifications and alot of new parts.
my old 305 is currently about to go out so i want to upgrade my 88 trans am.

does it seem like a good deal if i talked him down a little and how would i know for sure if this thing will run good and strong because ive allready had problems with buying peice of crap engines, thanks

Seems like a fair deal, but you still have the low-performance exhaust system and the low-pressure fuel system, both of which need upgraded. Then you have a TBI-to-TPI swap. Plenty of threads about that.

Just upgrade your exhaust or else it will choke the hell out of a 350

Figure at least $700 in parts for an all-new, decent exhaust system. Fuel system is just dropping the tank, swapping the pump, reinstall, then connecting the other end to the engine. Installing an all-new exhaust system is easy. Removing the original is not.

Thanks! I'm deep-down disgusted with the no-fat diet. But that's the big secret to defeating cancer. Doctors can't make any money off it, so they deny it. Good thing I found out, I'd run out of savings, and I had maxed out my available credit. But we're off topic.

No.

The oil pan won't fit in the 3rd gen chassis. Changing the pan will require changing the oil pump pickup. The good news is those parts from your 305 will fit.

Ditto the exhaust manifolds, but as mentioned, your LO3 exhaust would not make a happy camper of the 350.

I don't see pictures or mention of the ECM or harness in the ad. If not included, your choices are: finding an '89 ECM and harness; or swapping your TBI onto the 350.

Also, do you see that tube that goes from the passenger side exhaust manifold over the valve cover to the intake, with insulation on it? That's the EGR exhaust gas supply tube, because the heads don't have exhaust cross-over passages in them. Be prepared for some fun connecting that to whatever exhaust you end up with.
