HOOD WONT CLOSE WITH BREATHER ON

getting close to completion of 2.8 to 5.7 swap on my firebird but realized that the hood hits the breather when its on the carb I'm using an eddelbrock chrome breather basically a base and a cap with the filter sandwiched between and its holding the hood up about 2 inches any suggestions?

Experiment with a drop base.

What carb are you using? What intake? If it is a Holley carb, I would recommend the reproduction of the L88 drop base air cleaner. This, combined with a 3" tall filter element and a generic chrome lid easily fits under my IROC hood with an RPM Airgap intake. The aftermarket drop base air cleaners that I have seen do not provide as much room as the reproduction L88 base.

I would go with the re-pro L88 bass as pan stated.

intake stock cast iron carb is holly not sure on model but its a duel feed was considering cutting a hole in the hood and a hood scoop. Also this is a 4 barrel carb with an adapter plate about 3/4 inch thick.

A cowl hood will clear and give it fresh air. You can run a tall intake and whatever air cleaner you want. I personally like those 67 corvette BBC stinger hoods they offer for our cars.

Save the money on the hood and scoop you don't need and buy the intake you do need.
