Blueprint 383 (BP38313CTF1) into my 88 Iroc-Z
Getting ready to purchase and swap in a new 383 from blueprint engines, the motor seems pretty close to plug and play with the efi system on there so im just curious if there are anythings I may be overlooking in this swap. little things like in my mind motor mounts should be in factory location since its just a worked over 350 which was what the car came with. I had the trans rebuilt to handle the extra HP already so unless my Tq converter doesn't mesh up for some reason that's straight. just have fivie things going on the car right now and need the proverbial "extra set of eyes"
Thanks
Thanks

He's probably referring to one of the packages they offer where that particular engine comes with the FAST EZ system. I think Jegs or Summit sells them bundled together.
I've personally not had any experience with that FI setup so I would ask some of the guys who have what they think.

Rice01,
Thank you for yourinterest in BluePrint Engines! Here is a direct link to our website and theparticular engine that you are asking about http://blueprintengines.com/index.php/gm-383-bp38313ctf1 One thing that you might look into is thatour FAST kit will not include the fuel pump and lines that you would need forthis system, the FAST kit number is 307503. Please let me know if you have any further questions and I will be happyto help.

Hope you have better luck than my buddy, piece of junk after 50 miles! This is after break in and some driving, decided to upgrade heads and sure enough there's these deep scratches in more than 1 cyl. Maybe debris, maybe non deburred rings or even worse broken ones. All forged POS!

Re: Blueprint 383 (BP38313CTF1) into my 88 Iroc-Z
Well this little witch hunt wasn't what I was looking for when I started this. Not to discredit any of you, but myself and my family has had good "luck" with blueprint on several occasions, My brothers '69 mustang with their 347 stroker and my dads class 8 offroad truck running one of their 355's. Both engines have ran well with no issues for over a year and six months. Incredible customer service from everyone that we have dealt with on both builds. The only reason I posted this question here instead of going straight to them was to get some informed (not opinionated) FACTS about what I would need to put a specific engine into a specific (third gen Camaro) vehicle. I figured you TGO guys would have a little better idea of things like fuel lines, motor mounts, headers, ect. that apply to our cars. I like this forum and the majority of level headed individuals that have helped me immensely, but lets keep a tight shot group guys. I'm sure there are the duds that roll out of their shop, but "those are crap" isn't helping me solve my problem.
Now that that rant is over, yeah I was referring to the FAST system for the FI, im going to remove the L98 and its computer( unless I need it for the 700r4 to operate properly, i'm still not sure what that plug in the side of it does). SO that is all I meant by plug and play, just drop the new motor in (to what I assume are the same motor mounts since its a 350 block), install the FAST components, hook up my headers and live happily ever after. OR are there more things like the fuel lines that the blueprint guys brought up?

Rice.Well understood you posting for the actually swap.
For the record.I posted as professional engine builder in facts of what we have had to correct with customers bring their purchases to us.
Guess it is a question of if the cup is haft full or empty with the engines you have purchased vs our factual findings.
Well we are just trying to help out.

You likely need to make fuel lines from factory hardlines to the rails. Also need a new regulator, external type if you cant rail mount to the fast rails.
I dont know how standalone that harness is and whats required to swap it in.
Other thing to watch is head accessory bolt pattern. May have situation where all bolt holes dont line up or some are drilled in different location. For some reason not all sbc heads have same accessories bolt pattern.
May need a flexplate for your converter, one that fits that motors crank. May be a difference between 2 pc rear main and 1 pc rear main. Hopefully it fits the stock starter as the tooth count is different for some flexplates. Everything else should be ok.

The FAST system probably doesn't care whether or not the transmission is in 4th gear. So, wouldn't worry about that one.
The FAST system probably isn't capable of locking up the TCC. So, you'll need to rig up something to do that. There are kits out there that can make it easy to set up, or you can rig up a switch or other means of locking it for cruising.
(BTW, it is usually helpful to post a link to the product you're talking about so people who don't make it a habit to keep up with every aftermarket outfit's offerings out there have a better idea what you're talking about.)

Thanks five7, I put the part number, but I spaced on the link.

So, sounds like figure out the fuel rails and a pressure regulator, some means to manually lock the TCC in overdrive and figure out some guidance on what and where I can remove components of the stock computer. I'd like to salvage the L98 components to use in another project if possible, don't want to cut anything that might be important.
