Couple Q's on 350 blocks
Let me start off by saying that I have been searching and reading up on 305-350 swaps for awhile now. I am still having trouble trying to figure out which direction I should go! I need help figuring out which block to start with. I do not want to rebuild the motor just buy and drop in. I can upgrade cams, intakes, etc as needed but want to avoid the bottom end. Here are a few things I am looking for from the swap.
-I want to keep the TBI set-up because I don't want a carb.
-I thought about a LT-1 but involves too much wiring which I want to avoid.
-Looking for a good daily driver with enough power to be fun unlike the 305.
-Maybe around 300/325hp to the wheels
Which block should I buy that will give me the internals and heads that will help me get to the HP I am looking for with bolt ons?

Most likely going with the L31 vortec motor. What do you guys recommend I do about the transmission? Can I keep the crappy 700-R4 and put a B&M shift kit and a 2600 stall converter on there? Is there a stock converter that I can swap in with a higher stall out of a truck or something? What about the flexplate will the 305 swap over?

The S10 /Astro GM # 24208645 convertor is supposed to be a higher stall

First, I would say 300 RWHP with TBI without power adder is a pipe dream.
But, there is a sticky on the TBI forum about using a Vortec 350 engine for a TBI swap. I'd suggest you look there for getting the most out of the TBI setup.
