84 camaro engine swap questions
Okay I have a 84 camaro sport coupe with a 350 bored .030 with a holley street dominator intake and a holley 750cfm carb. Other than that I am pretty sure its stock other than a shift kit. Not sure what gear ratio or tranny I have but I think its a 700r4. How do I make sure of this, and then I was wondering what setup should I use for a 383? I want to build one that has decent power but can still be a daily driver without getting 8mpg like I am now. Any help is greatly appreciated. -sean.

For starters your carb is way big for what you have , a 600 or 650 would be better suited for perf and economy

Re: 84 camaro engine swap questions
Thats all I had laying around. The choke is even off of it. Hah. So say I stroke this motor, or even upgrade this one, what kind of fuel economy should be expected? I drive 30 miles to work everyday, which doesnt hurt me that bad but it just seems like a waste. Its going to stay my daily driver for a while, but I would still like to have decent power. And I filled out my bio to the best of my knowledge.

Depending how you drive anything that makes more power will use more gas but as it stands the 750 is not helping either perf or economy.
Is the carb correctly jetted for your stock engine ?

Re: 84 camaro engine swap questions
Do you know if the factory electronic distributor was replaced when the carb/intake was put on? This must be replaced with a vacuum advanced distributor when removing the original Computer controlled quadrajet or it'll run poorly at best, contributing to your MPG woes. Also, if you don't have one, you need to get a TCI lockup kit for your transmission or you will burn it out, not if, but when.
