Supercharged or turbod 418

Hey all, first off this is my first post on here, and was wondering IYO if I should go with a Turbo or a supercharger because I'm going to be swapping the stock TPI engine with a newer 418 LS3. I'd like to know what you think that way I have all my ducks in a row before I get started. Thanks in advance for the information in advance.

Nothing scream HP like a supercharger poking out of the hood but when you look at modern cars, especially LS powered cars, turbos is the way to go. Each system has advantages and disadvantages. It's up to you to decide which way to go.

Re: Supercharged or turbod 418

Welcome. As Alky mentioned, Its up to you on what way you go. There seems to be more turbos going in LS here at 3rd gen. Both have there pros and cons. There is a ton of info here from what Ive read about putting in a turbo.... So maybe a super charger is the way to go? I think NufNuff has a SC in one of his.... Either way, exciting build! You going to start a build thread here?

Supercharger for me, originally I was going to buy a crate 572 and put a F2 procharger on it, procharger stated it would make about 1400hp

So that got me thinking, with my other build, I'm gonna be going to be using a LSX 427 with a Whipple supercharger with a 19 psi pulley and a water/Meth system with a ntiro additive, I've estimated that I'm gonna be making around 1800 horsepower and people are saying that I'm not gonna be making that. What do you think?

So do your research and build it to prove them wrong. Don't forget to document the build on TGO.

You might as well scrap the production car and start with a tube chassis car if you plan on making that much power. The engine will be the least of your worries.

This isn't with a third Gen, it's with a fifth Gen Camaro, which from I've read has a lot stronger body and chassis than a third Gen

It's still a unibody and tube chassis is the way to go at that power level.
