IF YOU HAD 3K AND A GOOD 700R4 WHAT WOULD YOU DO
I have been searching awhile now. And have drove myself nuts. Do I do a l31. Swap keep my tbi. Carbureted. WTF. I do not care about pollution (non emissions state. ). What do I do. What engine. What sticky. Thanks in advance.

Above average to average mechanical skill. Welders tig and so on. But looking for less work. I want touring car with hopefully 325 hp at the crank.

I want the t56 so bad. And I have 799 heads. But the cost takes me out of my budget. Probably should keep saving. I will always wish I had a t56. Every time I drive it lol.

Buy 3,000 scratch off tickets? Burn the 700r4 at the stake since it's clearly an unholy aberration? Take "good" 700r4 to the Gold n Silver Pawn Shop, and convince the "guy for that" that it's the super rare, only one ever, good 700R4!

Do the 5.3 with the 700 r4 just need a flexplate that works or adapter and VSS sender, get it running and do the T56 later when budget allows.

on craigslist in the DFW area there is a 9 bolt poncho third gen rear for sale.

Save your money until you have a solid plan in place. Trying to force an LS swap with a limited budget will leave you with a car in pieces that doesn't run. You don't just "throw" in a 5.3 to get it running. $3k won't even cover the other supporting parts needed to get it going.

(IF YOU HAD 3K AND A GOOD 700R4 WHAT WOULD YOU DO?) Go get a bottle of Jack, a hooker and a motel room. On a serious note, 325HP is pretty mild so the 700r4 will handle that. For a touring car you may want to do major upgrades to the suspension, SFC, brakes, maybe K member with tube A arms, coil overs, and then there is always the rear end. $3000 doesn't go very far.

Again, I would stress laying out a plan on what you want out of the car. Don't just swap motors to swap motors. Every swap comes with its litany of items that need to be addressed. Exhaust, Fuel, Tuning (required for any 350 TBI swap), suspension, brakes, etc etc. $3k doesn't get you very far. I would put that money into suspension and brakes. Build the platform before you throw motors at it.

I should have started by.saying. 305 ibi Went. Car always garaged very well taken care of. Just looking for a cruiser. Had someone give me a 2005 Tahoe 5.3 long block with 799 Heads.. I will just get 350tbi long block. And cruise. But is it worth it to throw in a l31 in.It. 5.3ls conversion. Car will never be worth much. To do ls swap. Did I add car is in mint condition nice looking bird.

I definitely go with 5.3. What water pump do I use. And harmonic balancer. I have the flex plate figured out. But not the accessory. Or fuel lol. Thanks y’all I appreciate it.
