full 2000 trans am swap into my 89 formula swap project!
OK i started a project with my 2000 trans am that got destroyed in a hit and run and I've made a playlist and will keep adding to it as i make videos from start to finish. The plan is to swap everything from my 2000 trans am ws6 in to my 1989 formula and also add a couple of turbo's to the mix and many other goodies. So i figured i would document it all and put it on you tube. I'm not a professional at cars and i've never done anything like this before. this will be my first project ever making videos about or being on camera and no one will really be there to help me film all the good angle's lol so bare with me and come along on this journey. i'm just getting started with and hopefully this will only take about a year or so from start to finish. there are already 5 videos in my formula swap project playlist. That Mustang looks great! Sucks to hear about the Trans am getting wrecked by a drunk but at least its powertrain is going to live on in you 3rd gen!

Thanks. yes the weather will probably slow me down but not stop me. but i'm hoping to go to friends house which has a lift for the actual engine removal.

I was wondering what that smoke in the video was, glad it was only a belt. You mention using a rear end out of a 97, couldn't you use the rear end from your 2000?

Yes of course I could use my rearend out of my trans am but my car has the 97 rear end in it already and I prefer that one due to the style of the e- brake it uses it engages the rear caliper to simply sqeeze the rotor. instead of a drum inner style e brake inside the rear rotor of the newer rear ends. Much simpler and a lot less moving parts.

Just did the same thing except I bought my donor from coparts, and kept the 89 formulas dash/gauges etc and not quite as many suspension upgrades.
You will find the dash from the 2k will fit in the thirdgen, but it just doesn't quite look right unless you make some custom filler panels and door panels so you don't have gaps.
http://bigbrakeupgrade.com/ has the brackets to use the front 2k brakes on the thirdgen, but you will not have ABS sensors so if you intend to keep ABS you will have to find a solution there as unfortunately the 4th gen k member doesn't fit the thirdgen.

yeah i know in my list i put the brakes i'm using and the k member i'm using the c6 hd j55 grand sport brakes and pa racing k member. and i'm doing a complete everything swap including the body harnesses and door panels and will be making anything custom that i need to out of fiberglass. and yes i probably won't be able to use the abs system but that's ok. i know it can be done but that's one i don't mind if i skip. thanks for the message.
