Hey guys. I have a 1991 Camaro RS with the 3.1 V6 with a 700R4 auto tranny. I've been doing research on swapping a 350 into it. I have found a 97 5.7 Vortec engine from a Chevy 3500CK Truck. I've been told that would be way not the effort given the two different computer systems. Especially that one uses obd1 and the new one would use OBD2. I'm trying to research what a good engine would be to upgrade in this car. My friend wants me to just update the current engine by getting vortec heads for the oriignal 3.1 and then turbo charging it. Obviouslt the 3.1 vortec update would be less hassle. I have gone over the pinned post about what's involved with a 350 conversion. I don't mind upgrading springs, the rear end, upping the radiator if need be. A direct wire harness swap doesn't sound too crazy as long as i have the materials I need. Mount swapping sounds easy enough since the sub frame from what I understand should be ready to support new v8 mounts. I'd like some suggests on where I should go with this project and what I should look for. Thanks guys!

 

Another option would be to rework your harness or buy a used one and go with tpi.
scoggin Dickey has the intake base. You can find the plenum and runners used for 90/92 speed density.
@beths91camaro might even have the runners plenum and Throttlebody.

 

I do have some TPI parts, not sure on the throttle body, but that can change pretty quickly.
