Okay folks, please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the stock heater core diverter valve already accomplishes the same thing as running an extra hose to the water pump. When no heat is called for, the stock valve diverts coolant from the restricted nipple in the front of the intake manifold directly back into the passenger side top of the radiator. Would this not provide some coolant flow through the engine/heads until the thermostat opens? Is the problem that it would not provide enough flow? I have attached a diagram showing the correct (I believe) coolant flow path(s). Keep in mind, also, that the throttle body coolant hose has been deleted, so the diverter valve hose connects directly to the restricted intake manifold outlet.
