1992 Camaro 5.7 LT1 Swap.
I recently bought a 1996 Camaro Z28 with 50,000 original miles as a donor car I picked it up for a grand only thing that was wrong with it was a few chewed up wire, hooked the wires back up and had some fun driving the car but now it’s time to get to business.
The LT1 and T56 are going into my 1992 Camaro RS...............On a budget... surprise!
Since I have the engine out, I am going to do the complete tune up, but I really do want to swap the cam to a slighter better one, I say slighter because I don’t want to have to upgrade other stuff I just want to do the cam therefore what cam do you guys recommend?
I will be upgrading to shorty headers, bigger throttle body, cold air intake. Maybe injectors.
I know there’s many posts out there but there’s nothing like having your own and then possibly having new never before shared ideas or information shared by members.

You’ll want atleast valvesprings and possibly pushrods. Lt4 hotcam has always been nice and mild but so are some of the smaller grinds out there like the ol crane 104227.
i know you said budget but now would be a good time to convert to a 0411 ls pcm and 24x kit to get rid of optispark

LT1 isn't much different in terms of what kind of cam's it likes. Better flowing heads and intake is why the LT1 makes more power than the L98.
If you want stock, or very near stock drivability I'd look at the first two cams on Lloyd Elliots list. He's good to talk to and will walk you through stuff.

The 212/222 should idle like stock and be otherwise be a sleeper. The 218/224 will edge out a hot-cam slightly, but its not a sleeper.
I would also consider chatting with Advanced Induction. They are a huge name in LT1 Heads/cam stuff.
