LT1 cam choices
I'm looking at getting an LT1 T56 parts car and putting the LT1 and T56 in my 1991 camaro RS 305 TBI. I was wondering what cam you guy's think I should run, the LT1 will be completely stock internally. I already have a cam from comp, and I talked with someone at comp and they said I can exchange it (hasn't been used) for a different cam if I pay shipping and a restocking fee, so I would like to know what you guys think the best cam for the car would be.
I will be driving the car daily, so I don't want anything to radical, and I don't plan to have any power adders it's a T56 car, and I'll be putting a lower gear in, and I don't plan to rev past 6000-6500, It'll probably be rare for it to be over 4500. I have long tube headers going in with the LT1.
Any suggestions?
Thanks-
Eric

Re: LT1 cam choices
What are the specs on the Comp cam you currently have in hand?
Also give us a little more information on what you want to achieve, ie. why you think the stock LT1 cam isn't what you want.

Re: LT1 cam choices
The cam I have isn't computer friendly.
I really want a fun daily driver, but I also want more than what a stock LT1 has to offer, I want to swap the cam now, mainly because if I have the engine out to put it in my car, if I don't do it now, I'll have to take the car apart to put one in, now, it gets put together once, and goes in once.
I'm thinking maybe the 466.

Re: LT1 cam choices
Any cam you put in you will want to upgrade the valve springs at the minimum. I would probably go with the 07-467-8 since it makes good use of the entire RPM range that the motors turn (I have my rev limiter set at 6300 on my LT1, the stock is around 6000 iirc)

I already have springs and comp "magnum" lifters, I also plan to get some new roller rockers, and just to be on the safe side, a new timing set. you guy's think I should get new pushrods too? anything I'm missing?
Thanks for the help-

Re: LT1 cam choices
would running the 467 require me to get new injectors?

I'm not running the 476, I had a buddy here that was running the 292 in his (biggest XFI cam they make) and it sounded good

Re: LT1 cam choices
I think I'm going to go with the 466, I think the 467 would be a little much for the mostly stock LT1.
