4.8 5.3 mates with t5 required parts?

I currently have a 91 camaro with t5 and 350.
was thinking of doing an ls swap with a 4.8 or 5.3 bs rebuilding my 350.
i have read I need a 621 bbc bell housing with ls flywheel.
is there anything else I would require would prefer to use the original clutch with external slave .

Re: 4.8 5.3 mates with t5 required parts?

I think you need the thick flywheel to make it work, it's a Sachs 1050. The T5 bellhousing will actually bolt to the LS engine, but it may not fit the flywheel. the 621 bell is going to rotate your T5, so that won't work, plus there is no provision for the external slave on the 621. You're stuck getting the Lakewood bellhousing if the stock T5 doesn't fit over the clutch and flywheel

Not sure what your post is about, but if you're asking if it is a direct replacement for the stock bellhousing, then yes

Re: 4.8 5.3 mates with t5 required parts?

Ouch for 700 I guess I would be better off rebuilding my 350 makes 360hp with 370 torque considering I am not planning on doing any performance upgrades and keeping it stock for time being.
Only thing I have to find is a complete exhaust to put on her.
Do you guys have any suggestions for cheap complete exhaust headers back .
I look only I can only find 2nd gen complete nothing but can't back for 3rd.
I only have headers on car now. I believe they are 3 bolt flange been a few months due to snow and have to verify diameter

You can search for 4th gen cat back systems, it's largely the same and there are a few more options. Hawks will show most of the available 3rd gen cat back systems though

Re: 4.8 5.3 mates with t5 required parts?

the 621 will bolt up but won't work with the t5.

you need to grind some stuff down on the lakewood to bolt to the back of the LS and then you most likely want headers if so long tubes wont fit with the slave cylinder mount,

i'm using a lakewood t5 scattershield on the back of a 6.0 with an LS7 clutch kit, tilton hydraulic throw out bearing and a tremec tko 600

the LS is far superior than the older engines.

I forgot about that, The 3 topmost bolts on the rear engine cover touched the bolt heads.

Yea I’m on tight budget so trying to find best route even if it’s temporary.
i know everybody states you can’t use a t5 with a 350 it will only last a month
me and my grandfather both have a t5 behind 350 and haven’t blown anything.
didnt know if it same for ls setup or if it truely can be done without blowing tranny

Although your average LS makes far more power than your average 350 its not power that kills drivetrains. Traction kills rears/transmissions. If you go easy and don't dead hook with sticky tires you shouldn't break anything. But what fun is that?
