v-6 t5 and v-8 t5
v-6 t5 and v-8 t5
is there any dif in the splines on the two can i put a 2.8 liter v-6 tranny on a v-8 are the splines on the two diffrent sizes the main thing is the clutch are they interchangeable we got a clutch we thought was off a 305 and tried with the tranny and the splines are to small it not letting the clutch connect to the spline anyone with exp on this any help or insite would be nice thanks alot
I don't recall the exact spline count for a V-6 but the V-8 uses a 26 spline input shaft and the two are not compatible. The V-6 also uses a smaller disc meaning less surface area and less holding force. I have heard of a company that will put a V-6 hub into a V-8 disc but I can't recall any more than that.
I'm not sure about this one but I have a faint memory about someone saying the V-6 input shaft is longer, I don't know if thats true or not or if it was even said, that just sticks out in my memories of this type of discussion.
Wish I could be of more help.

the tranny will bolt in but it will not connect to the clutch disc i was just woundering if u can usea v-6 clutch in iti know it wouldnt hold great but it should work till we can get another tranny right any help would be realy nice
The V6 T5 has a 14 spline input shaft, the V8 T5 has 26. I think the V6 disc with the V8 would slip. Buy a V8 disc and pressure plat and take the V6 and V8 discs to a clutch shop and have them swap the hubs. Then you will have a 10.4" V8 disc with the 14 spline hub. This is what I did. Also, you need a V8 bellhousing.
