Subframe connectors
Motor is currently out of the car being rebuilt and I want to order up some much needed subframe connectors. I’m worried about exhaust clearance causing issues. I’m running a 454 with hooker 2226 long tubes. I don’t have many good photos of under the car to see if the exhaust clears all the weld points. I know BMR has inside and outside frame offerings. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the reply! Your car looks great! I’m still worried about that angle in on the left side but they do look like they tuck well so hopefully they clear

Definitely look at inner style as was previously mentioned. Lon at Top Down Solutions has a nice set from Alston on his website that might we worth looking at. I run the UMI outer style and had to do a bit of pinch on the Magnaflow aftermarket Y pipe to get it to work on the passenger side.

Re: Subframe connectors
Thanks! I have a 400 trans in the car and I’m not sure what brand mount it’s on. Do you know if those inners would interfere with the tranny mount location?

The piece you see on the left, but that isn't present on the right, is CRITICAL to the performance of the SFCs. Without it, there's still NOTHING but the floor pan, holding the car together.
Ideally, SFCs would have a flat strip or something, maybe 3 - 4" wide, that would tuck right up to the floor pan in that area so it would go up over the exhaust, instead of that bar that just barges right through the middle of that space. I've never seen any such thing though. Wouldn't be too hard to make something like that to retrofit onto most any of the better SFCs like those in the pics.
Alternatively, it would be great if there was a way to run the exhaust in the tunnel close to the transmission, instead of taking the outer route that the factory used. That would cause other problems though, not sure if it's really practical at all to do that if for no reason other than ground clearance. That spot is already in danger for ground clearance in these cars, especially with a T-56 crossmember.

Now those are not the ultimate option but they work fine, are affordable and can be installed easily. It is a nice upgrade from stock. Really made a difference on the street, where this car spends most of its time.

Re: Subframe connectors
The Alston SFC's that TDS sells are really nice, and fit about as nice as I can see any SFC's I've seen short of custom fabricated pieces. I've got 'em ready to install on my car and test fitting them showed them to tuck real nice. I've heard that there's interference with the Hawk's T56 trans xmember, which is what I'll be running shortly, so I opted to wait and install them both at the same time in case minor trimming is needed. Other xmembers shouldn't be an issue from what I've read.
....I had the UMI SFC's on my last car, and while they were a bit bulkier, the fit my stock (at the time) exhaust, and ground clearance wasn't an issue. No complaints.

Re: Subframe connectors
Do you actually have evidence of that?
I saw a "frame" on either side of the tunnel, and a nice square-tubing SFC down the sides of the car, and NOTHING connecting them together on the pass side except for the floor pan.
Without that connection, sure, they're an "improvement"; but WITH it, ... it becomes almost a solid car instead of a wad of tinfoil.
No that pic is not mine. I ganked it from somewhere A LONG time ago.
Re: Subframe connectors
i have decided to go with the BMR sub frame connectors and i would like to know what is the most popular setup with inside or outside.
Thanks Rich
