I had a SBC and a T56 from a 93 TA in my 91 Z28 for a few years.

Long story short. That stuff is out, new setup is going to be an LS3 and new trans, and bought new from GM.

The old T56 needed the shifter hole extended 2". But it was a bit of a mess with making a shifter boot.

Looking to understand where the shifter will end up this time around.
I welded the entire shift hole shut for now while it is on my rotisserie and will go back and find a nice lower universal shifter boot.

Don't plan on having the motor till sometime in '24. This is just up front research.

A lot will have to do with your motor and trans mounts. My LS3 block and magnum combined with UMI kmember and mounts put the shifter perfectly in the original spot. However, with the Holley mounts it was farther back.

 

I came across some of my old notes and I know I have a dimension sheet somewhere for the different 6 speeds.

Shifter Locations BellHousing to Shifter CL
F-Body - 29.5"
CTS-V - 35"
GTO - 33"
Magnum in f-body is 1.5" longer - 31"
Holley Mounts move engine .5" forward - 30.5"

 

I was planning on using the holly double hump trans mount and stock k-member. Think it will be close to stock?
