91 305 TPI to 88 350 TPI

Hi all. I'm a 3rd gen novice here. I recently picked up a '91 Z28 convertible with a blown 305 TPI. I've located a wrecked '88 IROC with a 350 TPI that i'd like to throw into the '91 Z28. I'm hoping that it will be a direct swap with not much modification. I do not like messing with computers and electronics, so I am hoping it would be a plug and play. Can someone help with pointing out some of the issues with doing such a swap?

Thanks in advance!!!

The swap is straight fwd, just use the 350 injectors if multec grey body might want to replace.
use a Aujp memcal chip and your set assuming you have a 700r4. If a manual a custom tune.

Wow, thanks so much for the quick reply Tuned Performance.

I apologize, but you're talking to a TPI novice here. What is the multec grey body? and a Aujp memcal chip?

My hope was to pull the complete 88 350 TPI from the IROC, and simply drop it into the 91 Z28 in place of the 305, and plug in any electronics, etc. Sounds like it's not that simple??

Thanks again!!

Chris

Re: 91 305 TPI to 88 350 TPI

I forgot the 88 should have bosch injectors so no worries there unless they have been sitting for along time .
southbay fuel injectors has delphis or d3 but you might want to tune for those . Aujp are the letters on the computer chip fir 90-92 tpi 350 automatic transmission.
the 90-92 tpi is map plenum
and throttle body and even intake base is slightly different.

Re: 91 305 TPI to 88 350 TPI

I just reread my posts, and I wanted to be clear- I want to pull the complete 350 motor, meaning block, heads, TPI, everything, from the 88 IROC and drop it into the 91 Z28. I am hoping it would be a simple drop in and plug and play.

I really know nothing about these cars mechanically/electronically, and what concerns me is the electronics and/or computer. would the computer/wiring/etc. in the 91 z28 for a 305 be compatible with what would be dropped in?

Thanks again in advance for any input!!!!

To hook up map you might want to just swap drivers side runner and plenum
And throttle body the cable is different. Change the tune in the ecm too. The intake base is just a cold start timer switch hole in the front.
i hope that answers your questions
