305 tpi to 350 carb swap tips?
I just pulled the 305 from my iroc yesterday. It’s basically a stock tuned port 305 with headers, everything else for the most part is stock. While the engine is out what are some things I should do to to the engine bay and engine itself before I slap it in? I’m thinking about relocating some grounds that connected to the heads and removing parts of the harness I’m not gonna use, removing the air tubes on my headers and scrubbing the crap out of the bay, not sure what else but I wanna cover all corners and future proof as much as possible. Let me know if you guys got any recommendations.

Motor mounts (the most obvious thing that comes to mind). I would not cut the factory harness if you are going from TPI to Carb. Carefully separate the two factory harnesses. The one from the driver's side should have all the wires needed for your swap, with the exception of fans and the fuel pump relay. The passenger side harness can be removed intact along with the ECM.

I cleaned up the engine bay and painted (black) the K member and local parts. I did not cut any wires. I neatly folded back the injector wires and zip tied them. I kept my ecm so it still controls the one fan, sensor by thermostat. How many miles are on your transmission. Now might be the time to rebuild it.

Transmission was rebuilt at 50k from my understanding, the car only has 80,000 miles on the body, I might just zip tie them back in case I ever wanna mess with the tuned port again, if not I'll remove the entire harness since I'm really opposed to cutting it.

Update: got the motor gasketed, primed and ready to be dropped in, I’m gonna make some modifications to the edelbrock TES headers I have and cut off the air tubes

Re: 305 tpi to 350 carb swap tips?
I recently did a 305 to 350 swap and went with a carb on the 350. I want to use the original oil pressure sending unit so the original gauge will work Issue is the sending unit hits the intake manifold and is too tall to fit under the HEI distributor. Any advise on how to get a sending unit to fit under the distributor? .
