350 engine swap question

I am curious about the harness situation. I don’t want to use the stock harness setup that’s currently in my firebird for the engine bay. Is there an easy and or better way to have a harness work with a new 350. I want to use a long block crate 350.

so I don’t have anything yet but I want to get the long block from
blueprint or summit and it’s the one with 341 hp but I want to make it carbureted but I’m not sure if an electrical water pump would be better then mechanical. And not sure what distributor i should get. I just need a better idea of what I should get. I don’t want a stock 350 from a used car. I saw the thread about that

I really just wanted a simplified harness. The way it comes from the factory is just a mess. And to be completely honest I dislike it so I was hoping I could have something different in the car

Re: 350 engine swap question

I'd recommend building your own harness...that way, you get what you want.

Well the original harness on my '83 wasn't "a mess". If you are going with a carb, simply remove (not cut) the harness that runs through the passenger side fender apron to the ECM, and just keep the main engine & lights harness from the driver side firewall next to the brake booster. Clean it up (like I did) with new split wire harness tubing, and black zip-ties where needed. This advice is of course based on a stock wire harness that is in decent condition and hasn't been fornicated by previous owner(s)...

Ok thank you! The wiring in the engine bay doesn’t seem to be hacked away besides the fact that I just spliced and installed a switch so my cooling fan would operate
