Hmmm, no 2nd gen expert here. But, I'll move you back to the top and say, no, they aren't the same, and let someone throw darts at it.
I just found out the hard way that they are definitely not the same. My mounts wouldn't line up, using V8 frame mounts and engine mounts that I found lying around in my garage. I went to Scoggin Dickey yesterday and they had the driver's side mount in stock, but no pass. side mount. I went ahead and purchased the driver's side mount, took it home and compared it to the previous mount that I was trying to use. There is a difference, without a doubt. I can't say for sure that my SBC will drop right in now, as I haven't had a chance to wrench on my car as it's about 8 degrees outside currently. But, I feel confident that the new mount will correct the mount alignment problems that I was encountering.
The engine mounts are roughly $25 each. The local parts stores have the V8 frame mounts in stock for $9 each. I didn't realize this, and paid $25 for salvage yard pieces that I had to pull myself. Another lesson learned!!!!
I hope this helps, and maybe it will save you some of the headaches that I've encountered, thus far, with my V6 to V8 swap. It'll all be well worth it in the long run!
