Flywheel Question

I have an 87 Iroc 305 carb(lg4) and i just bought 80-85 recon 350.What i need to know is can i use the fly wheel from my 87 305 or am i gonna have to get a new one.Do the fly wheels have the same teeth

You'll need to get another probably because the 87 is a 1 piece rear main seal engine while the pre85 motors are 2 piece.

Your going to need a 153 tooth flywheel for an 85 or older SBC. I got mine from a wrecking yard for $65 +$10 shipping.

Thats for a manual trans car, I don't know what size the flexplates are.

Its an auto 700 r4.so is a flexplate different from an 85 to an 87.like i said 80-85 recon motor.

The flex plate would also be different. The bolt pattern on the back of the crank changed in 86.

You need a flex plate from a 83-85 F-body car.

I called B&M today and they told me i need a 168 tooth flexplate for an 85 305/350 motor.

i think w/ the 700R4 its a 153 tooth. Also needs to be for an internaly balanced engine.

If you want to re-use your starter, you need a 153 tooth flexplate for an 85 V8 Camaro. That's that. Period.

Why they would recommend a 168 is beyond me. It adds weight and doesn't add performance. Not much weight, but why break it if it ain't fixed? Er... :P

You need GM Part# 471529 Flexplate 153 teeth for 2pc. rear main seal.
