What magazines do you read?
Just wanna know what everyone's looking at for inspiration.
Personally I think Carcraft(from US) is best.Followed by Hotrod,Super chevy,Chevy high performance.Custom car and Street machine are just about readable(Too few how to articles, too many VW's and boring pops).Classic american is a pile of ****e dedicated to tassled leather jackets,Cadillacs and rockabilly bands.Though strangely I owe my Camaro ownershio to the CA classifieds!

I occasionally get CA just for the classifieds (even though I never really want to sell mine or buy another!) but my thoughts on the mag are now legendary- I don't like it. Eric you put your finger on it with the line dancing, flag waving, leather jackets with tassles, Caddy with bull horns (they always seem to be red too!)
Street Machine is quite cool and Custom Car very ocassionally. Don't have the sign off from the financial controller of the family (otherwise known as my wife) to get any others.

wondered what sort of mags we were talking about for a sec!!
now that we've got that straightened out I have to admit that CA is just about readable (despite the emphasis on line dancing, 'living the American dream' and country and western) but the way street machine is going looks VERY promising :lala: other than that I'm partial to a flick thru most car mags in the newagents (max power etc excepted!!)

Nice to see SMACW has now become "American Car World" with the small emphasis "street machine". I'd say it's healthy for 2 mags in the UK to give each other a bit of competition & now they'll listen to us the readers when we either email or write in with our views & suggestions.
So far I have to thank Classic American for giving us "The KnightRiders of Dundee" a mention in the August 2004 edition, hoping that ACW will do the same.

This may not count in the tally, since I'm a "New World" guy, but I subscribe to Chevy High Performance. In my opinion, it has a greater technical content, and less opinion, frills, and fewer car reviews that mean little to me. I don't particularly care about the opinions nor impressions of some magazine editors after having been given a gratis ride for a few months. I'd probably say nice things about Hondas and Toyotas as well if I had a new one to drive free every few months.
You won't find many articles on how to select and install main- and rod bearings in Car and Driver, or ideas for tuning the suspensoin in Road and Track, The only pictures and diagrams I care to see are the ones that detail a procedure, not the best advertisement brochure photos like Custom Car.

Ive got all the original American Car World Mags and they were pretty good way back then.Have to admit its probably got the edge on CA,but when theres only two dedicated American Car Mags on the shelves, you have to read them both.

I try not to read magazines because then I'll end up buying things and become broke very quickly.
Except Classic American. That one's ok because there's nothing in it to tempt me
