Group purchase on used 3rd gen parts to the UK?

Just a thought here.
I bring in to the country quite a few used parts from a scrapyard in Tampa in Florida. His name is Jim and he runs thirdgenparts. They used to advertise on TGO, but now doesn't need to since he is busy.

What if we all listed bits that we needed (trim, glass, gfx, etc) here and I phoned Jim with a list and prices for a mass ship in one go. I will mastermind it if everyone wants and I can pay with PayPal and people pay me. He is superb and a gentleman. I have imported gearboxes, gfx, hi rise spoilers etc, all at a good price. Things like badges, pull down motors, pieces of trim, sensors, lights etc are all dead cheap. I don't want any profit out of this and I will forward all e mails to you all with the prices on that Jim states.

Any thoughts on this? Good idea or what? This may be your chance to get that bit you've always wanted.

Andy.

Andy,

This sounds good. Are the parts new or used?

If new I could be interested in some T-Top weather seals and the rubbers for the doors. I'll try and think what else I could do with also.

The parts are used, BUT, he can get new stuff also.

I received an e mail from him last night:

"Andy, sounds like a great plan. The hurricanes have really messed things up around here and things are just now getting back to some kind of normal. We have three storms hit Florida in a month and now there is another that seems to be targeting the East coast now. Just let me know
Jim"

Sounds as if he is interested.

If anybody wants to e mail me with bits they need, or post it on here, and I will contact Jim straightaway. I'll check those T top seals and door seals out straightaway.

Sounds like a great plan Andy.I think seeing as it's your idea though you ought to pay the shipping and duty mate. Seriously though it's a good idea.As long as his parts are competitive and can compete with Ebay sellers then I'll be up for some.I'm presuming the more parts we get the shipping will be a lot more reasonable.I'm in the market for a new carpet in black for the front and back and a new headliner, sail panels, sunvisors in black.

Just an observation, but from a little experience at shipping, you may want to request photos of the parts in cartons, as well as the sealed cartons, before shipment. In case of loss, pilfereage, freight damage, whatever, it may be the only basis for a solid freight claim - for both the buyers and sellers. This might be especially important if any glass or sheet metal parts are going to be shipped.

Thanks Vader.
Your advice is much appreciated and noted. I will request photos when things start happening.

Hi Andy,

Sounds like a great plan! Don't need anything right now though.

Hi Andy,

Should have changed that to "Can't afford anything now" LOL Car always needs things... What fun would it be if it didn't?

Look forward to meeting up with you too.

Cheers,
Felix
