Just joined up, having bought an '89 IROC. It's pretty straight and rust free, with the usual cosmetic issues such as shot headliner etc. Drives well and is as quiet as you might expect for a 30+ year old car - turned a few heads on the motorway driving back home when I collected it! There was no service history, so I will have to start from scratch with the fluids and suchlike. I'll probably be asking a few daft questions in due course, so be prepared....
Welcome aboard! That looks like a really nice IROC you collected there in the UK, and a 350 to boot. I can see why it would turn some heads in England.
Thanks for that. Plan is to tidy up the paintwork and other cosmetics - it already looks way better than in that picture - spent the last week cutting all the dead paint back and polishing. Even so, there are some suspect patches of microblistering and clear coat adhesion peeling, which will probably need a professional respray. Petrol (gas) prices are relatively low here at the moment, so fun in the sun with the T-tops off...

I can see where the paint looks a little suspect on the rear deck lid. I am sure that cut and buff you did brought that red paint back to life! I noticed it is a left hand drive, is it an import version or did someone have it shipped from the states? Must take some getting used to.
It was imported from the U.S. at the end of 2017 by a previous owner - the last owner in the U.S. was in Massachusetts. It's had a fair amount of new parts fitted to it since arriving here, such as suspension etc, and a non-standard cat back exhaust system.
Being left hand drive is no big deal really on a day to day basis. The only problem comes when driving into a car park with an automatic ticket barrier, where the ticket machine is on the opposite side! You need to make sure you have a passenger to hand, or long handled tongs!...
