Headers or a cat-back? I'd say get headers first, Hooker or Hedman. If you want a cat-back, I got the $200 Hooker cat-back, sound clip is in my signature.

I think you're lookin at $325 or so for headers. If emissions are a concern be sure they come with AIR hookups.
My Edelbrock headers weren't too bad to install, just time consuming about 6hrs. Hardest part is getting all the emission stuff out the way and getting the manifolds off.

You can get the Headman Shorties for about $100 and the y-pipe for about the same.

well doing the cat-back would be cheaper, and it would 'tide your ears over' until the headers, so I would suggest doing the cat-back first (sorry mark, LOL)

Hooker comps are $141, not coated, no y-pipe.
Hooker supercomps are $386, not coated, with y-pipe.
Dynomax std. series are $131, not coated, not sure about the y-pipe.
Hedman are $105, not coated, $99 for the y-pipe.
These prices are all current from Jegs. In your case, you should probably go with hedman since they're cheap. Then put on the hooker cat back ($200 at Jegs, don't forget free shipping). Not only will you have more power, but it will sound great too.

I would always start from the back and work forward, so cat back first then headers. Thats what I did The headers just went on today, read my sig for the other stuff.

About an hour ago I fired it up for 2 of my freinds, one who owns a mustang and the other a T/A. Sitting at Idle, they said "yeah it sounds a little meaner, give it some gas." I revved it to about 4 grand (and it definately revved quicker than it used to) and his exact words were "ok it sounds a LOT meaner!"

Cat back: $267 all parts and installation, and they made my tips, top notch job, 100% good quality welds no clamps
Headers: $99 (hedman)
Y-Pipe: $99 (hedman)
Installation of headers, Fabrication of cat delete pipe, add O2 sensor fitting to non-emissions headers, and a set of new $55 plug wires cause the old ones didn't fit: $225 ($170 without the wires, shoulda bought angle plug instead of straight cause the straight ones wouldn't fit with the headers)

The car sounds GREAT now! Little louder at idle that with just the cat back, MUCH louder at WOT. Very deep mellow sound at idle, and a nice "modern EFI V8 sports car" sound running hard. I'm quite pleased. Its not obnoxioulsy loud, but you can hear it at idle and if I rev at you!
