gutted cat, now code 32 ?

So I gutted my cat after it plugged up. I had to leave the air tube open because I didn't have anything the right size to plug it. After about 6 miles back on the road the SES light comes on itermittently. I don't notice any pattern to the light coming on. According to the book 32 is the egr solenoid either current or a vacuum problem. Is this just a coinsidence or did I muff something up?

Did you put on an aftermarket freeflowing muffler also? If so you probably don't have enough backpressure to acuate the egr solenoid. The 32 code usually comes on after a little while of freeway driving. Me i just don't keep my freeway speeds constand i vary them so the computer doesn't go into diagnostic mode. Later dude.

Yeah i thought it was interesting too. I saw it lookin through the old message boards. But it's true if you hold your freeway speed constant for more than at least 5 minutes that stupid light will always come on. I'm figurin a way right now to fix the egr solenoid so i won't have to pedal it around on the freeway anymore but you will have to keep your exhaust freeflowin all the time. Thats the way we like it anyways. More horsepower and more Torque. Yeah baby!

thanks, yep, it's got a dyno max superturbo cat back on it. Since it sounds like I'll have live with the light, I guess I'll straight pipe the exhaust where the cat used to be and get rid of that tinny sound. Thanks again for the help!

if you burn your own chips, you could get rid of it for good

You think you would still pass smog after deleting the EGR in the computer chip?
